Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Water Temple: Complete Dungeon Guide

The Water Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom presents players with a unique floating challenge situated high above the Lanayru region. To restore clean water to Zora's Domain, Link must team up with Prince Sidon to cleanse the ancient structure of thick sludge. Navigating this low-gravity environment requires clever puzzle-solving and effective use of water abilities.

Reaching the Floating Water Temple

Before entering the dungeon itself, players must complete a series of main story quests involving Prince Sidon and the Zora nation. Navigating through the Wellspring Island sky archipelago serves as a tutorial for the low-gravity mechanics used in the temple. Utilizing water bubbles and ascending through sky platforms will lead Link directly to the dungeon entrance.

Bringing plenty of Splash Fruit or Chuchu Jellies is essential for clearing sludge along the path. Attaching these items to arrows helps clear blocked pathways and reveals hidden jump pads. Proper preparation makes the journey through the sky islands significantly smoother.

Activating the Four Waterwheels

The main objective within the Water Temple is to activate four distinct waterwheel devices to increase water pressure. Each wheel is protected by environmental puzzles that test your understanding of low gravity, water bubbles, and Zonai devices. Prince Sidon's water ability is required to power up each generator once unlocked.

One waterwheel involves using Ultrahand to construct a makeshift water turbine that powers a nearby circuit. Another puzzle requires launching water bubbles through moving laser traps to carry electricity or key items. Working systematically around the central platform ensures you do not miss any hidden chests or crucial paths.

Clearing Sludge and Utilizing Sidon's Ability

Sludge is the primary hazard inside the temple, restricting movement and hiding key mechanisms from view. Interacting with Prince Sidon grants Link a protective water shield that can be launched as a ranged wave attack. This wave instantly washes away large patches of sludge and activates water-sensitive switches.

Players can also attach Hydrant Zonai devices to shields or weapons for continuous cleaning power. Keeping the main floor clear of mud makes maneuvering during combat and puzzle execution much easier. Efficient sludge management saves valuable time and resources throughout the dungeon.

Defeating the Mucktorok Boss

Unlocking all four waterwheels summons the dungeon boss, a chaotic sludge creature known as Mucktorok. The boss rapidly swims through the arena while disguised as a giant mud shark, firing dangerous sludge attacks. Timing Sidon's water wave or throwing Splash Fruit strips away the boss's muddy armor, revealing its true form.

Once exposed, Mucktorok will attempt to run away across the arena floor while leaving trails of mud behind. Using low-gravity jumping allows Link to close the distance quickly and unleash heavy melee combos. Repeating this process through two distinct phases will clear the temple and restore peace to the Zora kingdom.
